War and Peace
When I think about this topic, I remember also how many countless songs, since I was born in the Fifties, were written about peace.
It expresses the deep desire of humankind for worldwide peace. Than why it is so difficult to achieve?
To this question I like to ask you to read my expression about the stories of Cain + Abel and Esau + Jacob.
I like one song "Let There Be Peace on Earth" written by Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller in 1955.
It clearly shows, that peace has to start within each human individual, inside our heart.
It means, that everybody, who have been aggresive towards others, should repent and restore their wrongdoings, than they can be forgiven and the victims be healed.
Also revenge of the victims against the violators, is no solution. Don‘t we feel deep in our original heart, that this knowledge is true.
Without this actions, there will never be world peace!
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let There Be Peace on Earth
The peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With ev'ry step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Another song comes to my mind:
"Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream", written in 1950 by Ed McCurdy:
Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
I dreamed I saw a mighty room
Filled with women and men
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again
And when the papers all were signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful prayers were prayed
And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round
And guns and swords and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground
Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
I
imagine - that if every country in this world, would have a law to
forbid production of any kind of military weapons – what effect could it
have worldwide.
Of course, this is an external solution, not
referring to the deeper solution, offered above. Because, even a simple
hammer or kitchen knife can be used as weapon.
But let us examine,
how much money is spend on military weapons, out of fear and hatred,
instead of using it to help others and solve many problems we have.
