Green Economy

What do I understand, why we need green economy?

The United Nations explain it briefly so:

„A green economy is defined as low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive. UN Environment promotes a development path that understands natural capital as a critical economic asset and a source of public benefits, especially for poor people whose livelihoods depend on natural resources.“

Sounds good, but they big challenge is, how to realize it practically. Different opinions oppose each other.

Coal, oil and it’s resulting products like gasoline, petrol and kerosene are generaly considered as polluting elements. The Atom-Lobby tries to sell Atomenergy as clean energy. I don’t understand how Atomenergy can be considered clean, in sight of nuklear catastrophes and the unsolved problems of nuklear waste, with it’s estimated radioactivity between thousand to tenthousand years.

So what kind of solution against dirty energy elements where tried and offered since the 20th century worldwide

 1. Water for electricity, called hydropower:

Pro: It has the ability to generate electricity without emitting greenhouse gasses.

Contra: It can also cause environmental and social threats, such as damaged wildlife habitat, harmed water quality, obstructed fish migration, and diminished recreational benefits of rivers.

 2. Solar energy:

Pro: Reduced electricity bills. Financial support from the government. Energy independence. Reduced carbon footprint.
Little maintenance required. Longevity.

Contra: High initial cost. Weather dependence. Inability to move with you.
Limitations from your surroundings. Inconvenience in inner cities and other areas with limited space

 3. Wind energy:

Pro: Renewable and sustainable. Very few greenhouse gas emissions. Fuel is free. Space efficient. Low operating cost.

Contra: High initial cost. Weather dependence. Create noise pollution. Negative biological and environmental impacts.
Disruptive visual appearance.

4. Electric cars:

Pro: Electric cars are energy efficient. Reduce emissions. High performance and low maintenance.

Contra: Can travel less distance. Take longer to “refuel”. More expensive, and battery packs may need to be replaced. Electric cars batteries cannot be recycled and their productions is not enviroment friendly.

My final comment for solutions to this topic:

Humanity needs to continue to make more effort about understand the laws of creation, given by our creator God and to act accordingly.
Fulfilling the 3rd blessing, written in the Genesis: „Have dominion over the world.“
This goal cannot be reached by science alone, but in cooperation with spiritual values, taught by pure (not corrupted) religion.
